AVAILABLE POSITION: Lower School (K-3) Associate Teacher


St. Luke’s is committed to an associate program for teachers in Kindergarten through Grade 3. The program is designed to prepare a beginning teacher to be a strong candidate for a head teacher position.  An associate teacher is employed on a yearly basis for a maximum of two years.   The associate teacher is an addition to the classroom to enhance and enrich the student’s experience at school.  A full range of teaching experiences will be provided including small and large group teaching, collaborative curriculum planning, and participation in parent conferences, school-wide staff development programs, and community events. Each associate’s final experience is individualized to reflect the experience of the associate and the needs of the school, the lead classroom teacher, and the division head.

Responsibilities of the associate include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate and teach independently including planning and teaching at least one unit of study and special such as religion, science, etc.
  • Lead math and reading groups.
  • Assists in specials such as dance and library.
  • Associates will write a weekly newsletter to be distributed each Friday.
  • Associates will be asked to participate in a variety of duties, including but not limited to lunch, recess, supervision of children in transition, morning bus duty, dismissal duty, etc.
  • Associates are also expected to participate in the life of the school, including attendance at required events:  faculty meetings, curriculum night, parent conferences, grade-level cocktail party, Christmas Fair, Spring Benefit, and school games and events as possible.
  • All faculty and staff participate in a personalized program of professional development built around a process of collaborative goal setting.


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Masters Degree or enrollment in a Masters Program

Work Experience

  • 2 years or more teaching experience

SALARY: Salary placement is based on experience and according to our salary scale.
